The parents of an IIT Bombay student have begun an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, demanding action against the “abuser.”
Just hours before they were scheduled to begin a hunger strike outside the institute’s Powai campus, they claimed that early Wednesday morning, they were forcibly taken from Mumbai in a private vehicle against their will and transported to Washim district, located approximately 555 kilometers away.
The family stated that they had intended to remain in Mumbai and launch a hunger strike outside IIT Bombay on Wednesday morning to demand the immediate arrest of the named faculty member, Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, and the Dean, Shirish Kedare.
